HWC#9 A TASTE OF ALSACE / JULY 3RD
HEBDEN WINE CLUB #9 / A TASTE OF ALSACE / WEDNESDAY JULY 3RD
Alsace has swung between being under French and German rule for centuries, changing its ruling country as recently as 1918 just after the first world war where it was returned to France. German, French and an Alsatian dialect are all spoken here freely, and you will often find families who over the last four generations have had to speak all three. As you can imagine with this heritage, it has a sort of German model village charm to it with French ideals and freedom of expression. This is so clearly reflected in its wines which is why we love it sooo much.
A bit of a wine lover's paradise. With huge variances in styles and production methods you can get truly lost here. It’s a region we have represented on the list here at COIN for some time, with producers like Breitenberg, Anne-Laure Laenge and Christoph Lindenlaub all taking the weekly BTG special at one point or another. The food will be heavily inspired by the region and we will, as usual, be pouring paired wines alongside. This event will be priced at £70pp. We will be accepting bookings between 6 & 8pm. Please see below the evenings menu and wine pairings (some of which are from some of Alsaces best wine sites). Please note this is a meat heavy evening and we’re very sorry but it won't be possible for us to offer a vegetarian alternative.
